The Eddie & Friends Dog Park on San Juan Island occupies two acres next to Browne’s Home Center on Mullis Avenue (and is named after the Brownes’ dog Eddie). The turn is easy to miss (if you get to the fire station, you’ve gone too far), but leads to generous off-street parking.… Read the rest
One of our nieces got married this weekend at the Lakedale Resort on San Juan Island, and I hardly had eyes for the bride. What a beautiful place! Friday Harbor has a great pet store, called Friday Harbor Pet Supplies. It’s packed with all the high-end, healthy dog food, treats, toys, chews and grooming supplies you could wish for, and the owner (Annie Hutton) is a delight. Open Tues.… Read the rest
Kenmore Air has a fleet of seaplanes and land-based planes, and serves lots of useful destinations in the Pacific Northwest (including Seattle; the San Juan Islands; the Olympic Peninsula; Victoria, B.C.; and Canada’s Vancouver Island and Gulf Islands). It is my husband’s favorite way of getting to Friday Harbor (45 minutes from Seattle, as opposed to our usual 3-hour schlep via car and ferry), so we were thrilled to learn that Kenmore allows small dogs on its flights.… Read the rest
